Operations is a dynamic, multi-faceted division that partners with all areas of the firm to deliver banking, sales and trading and asset management capabilities to clients around the world. Alongside this vital service delivery role, Operations provides essential risk management and control, preserving and enhancing the firm’s assets and its reputation.Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.
BUSINESS UNIT OVERVIEW
Quality Analysis and Engineering (QA&E) is a global team of Operations professionals with backgrounds in Engineering, Computer Science, and Mathematics. QA&E works closely with other parts of the Firm and utilize enterprise wide data to assess the effectiveness of transactional processes, operational controls, and risk. QA&E build automated controls that effectively monitor Operational processes and help business units proactive manage their risks. These controls may then serve as the basis for strategic planning and technology investment decisions by the business units.
Activities performed by QA&E include:
• Developing control frameworks and models that enable proactive detection of risks and control gaps within operational data, systems and processes
• Performing business process reviews, including review of infrastructure (data flows and system applications) supporting reporting functions to identify process inefficiencies and suggest improvements
• Conducting in-depth data analysis to assess data quality and integrity, identify issues, and areas for structural improvement
• Leveraging data modelling tools & techniques to build models that can help solve business problems
• Consolidating analysis to provide risk and control assessments of business functions
• Assisting with incident analysis and follow-up, and
• Building subject matter expertise in business lines and products traded to provide expert opinion for operations processes
RESPONSIBILITIES
We are looking for an Analyst for the Quality Analysis and Engineering team in Singapore to work on Quality Assurance and Process Re-Engineering initiatives, which will include conducting business and data analysis, designing control frameworks and developing models to help evaluate existing process controls across different businesses and product lines.
This candidate will be working with various Businesses, Operations, Compliance, Strategist and Technology teams to analyse data and processes underlying operational requirements, engineer control standards and monitoring tools to maintain and improve existing processes.
Responsibilities and day-to-day activities include:
• Analysis of existing business processes, system and data flows to evaluate process effectiveness and data completeness & accuracy to meet business requirements
• Developing control frameworks that will quantitatively analyze integrity of information flowing in and out of firm-wide systems
• Develop automated tools with extensive use of programming, scripting languages and databases like Sybase and DB2 to implement new preventative and detective control functions
• Interface actively with business and Technology teams across the Federation to conduct root cause analysis and suggest remediation for the gaps identified
Basic Qualifications
The candidate must possess strong analytical skills and knowledge of data manipulation and query tools e.g. SQL with exposure to scripting and programming languages. Business knowledge related to financial markets and products as well as prior data analysis experience in this area would be an advantage. Some of the required skills are:• Knowledge of data manipulation and query tools (SQL, TSQL, PL-SQL) across number of platforms (DB2, Sybase, SQL Server).
• Strong analytical and problem solving skills with attention to detail
• Exposure to programming skills (e.g. C/C++, Java, Perl, Unix Shell Scripting)
• Good communication skills to interact with various stakeholders on the business and technology side
• Exposure to documenting and developing business process flows and business requirement documents like workflow and UAT manuals using standard applications such as MS word, PowerPoint, Visio, Excel.
• Mathematical modelling experience will be an added advantage

• Engineering or Computer Science Degree or Mathematics Degree
