Job Summary & Responsibilities

Duties: Responsible for working with internal business and technology stakeholders to develop software that supports the commodities trading business. The systems will manage risk, position, client transactions as well as interface with different systems throughout the firm. Work directly with front office stakeholders to define and iterate requirements that lead to direct front office technology improvements for the desk. This could include new business expansion, regulatory compliance, logistical/operational control and risk/trade capture. Develop software in the Firm’s proprietary risk database and programming language (SecDb/Slang) as well as C#, Java, and Shell Scripting where required. Apply programming techniques in a highly available real-time environment, including dynamic & parallel computing frameworks. Responsible for executing the full life cycle of the software development process including: requirement gathering, analysis, design, documentation, testing, development, release and post-release production support.

Work Schedule: 40 hours per week (9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.)

Job Requirements: Bachelor’s degree (US or foreign equivalent) in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or a related field. Five (5) years of experience in the job offered or in a related role at a commercial organization that leverages software development skills to drive critical business functions. Must have three (3) years of experience: programming for operating systems such as Windows and/or Linux; with object oriented programming such as C++ and Java; writing software that leverages large relational databases for data organization and manipulations, including table design, data normalization and/or serialization; either front-end or server-side application development and a strong working knowledge of N-tiered distributed architectures. Must have two (2) years of experience with the entire Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), SDLC best practices, and their application to large development teams.
