Job Summary & Responsibilities

The Controllers Tech Ops organization is responsible for ensuring a stable and secure operating enviornment.  Responsiblities of the group include:  Production Support, Infrastructure Planning / Management, Change Management, Tech Risk and Business Contingency Planning.  This position is for a member of the NY Regional team, with a regional focus in the following areas:

• Management of Tech Risk
    o Implementation of Procedures controlling  Production Access
    o BCP Strategy and testing
    o Review of access to all production servers in line with GS Production Access Control Toolset
• Production Support
    o Regional escalation
    o Mitigation of frequent failures and performance issues
• Hardware Capacity and Upgrade Planning
    o Managing the strategy and capacity of storage, including
§ Databases: Sybase ASE, IBM DB2, Sybase IQ
      • Current data and archive Servers
      • Online and offline requirements
§ File Systems
      • Daily processing inputs and logs
      • Archive data, online and offline
      • Peak load capacity management
    o Capacity and Configuration management for compute servers
 § Over 200  Linux and Solaris Servers
 § Impact of version upgrades on codebase include Java, C, Perl, SQL
    o HW acquisition
 § Annual budget planning
 § Management of acquisition process for PARA  Hardware
• Manage relationship with Technical Infrastructure departments, notably
    o Database Administration
    o System Administration
    o Services Integration Manager

Basic Qualifications

• Significant professional experience in Technical Operations, including
• Standard Linux tools
• Sybase Databases
• Batch scheduling tools, e.g. Autosys
• Track record of technical excellence with an emphasis on quality and focus on testing and continuous improvements
• Strong communication skills
• Strong initiative and sense of ownership
• Working knowledge and proficiency in software engineering principles applicable to large systems

Preferred Qualifications

The following are central to the production environment, and thus are desirable, but not required, skills:
o Sybase ASE Performance tuning
o Programming in Perl, SQL, Autosys JIL
o Administration/configuration of grid computing environment
