Operations span all product lines and markets, serving as internal business partners who develop the processes and controls, and help to specify the systems that deliver accuracy, timeliness and integrity to our business.  

Business Unit Overview
Goldman Sachs Asset Management (GSAM) is the investment management arm providing global investment opportunities to a substantial and diversified client base including institutions, governments and high net worth individuals. GSAM has become one of the pre-eminent investment management organizations globally. Critical to the success of GSAM is our ability to leverage a global team of talented professionals to define solutions and lead change across the operational infrastructure.
GSAM Operations consists of three broad functional areas: Trade Management, Portfolio Control & Analysis and Investment Services Group, all of which work in a dynamic environment where control, client service and excellence in execution are fundamental principles.

The Portfolio Control and Analysis (PCA) team is responsible for providing accurate client account data. On a daily basis, PCA provides account support and general problem resolution for all separate accounts and funds. This includes resolving issues that arise through discussions and communication with Goldman Sachs trade processing personnel, custodians and clients.

PCA supports Portfolio Managers, Traders, Sales, Marketing and Client Service professionals by providing accurate and timely client account information. The main areas of work for which Portfolio Control and Analysis are responsible are cash management, reconciliation and control, client reporting, and new account set-up.

Principal Responsibilities:  
• Execute team responsibilities such as client specified reports, advise specialist view on reporting requirements to new and existing clients, and implement reporting procedures with proper control
• Lead or participate in global and local project initiatives designed to improve operational efficiency by providing project scope, system specification, cost/benefit analysis, test scripts, issue log, and meeting coordination. Typical projects include system automation, workflow engineering, and insourcing and outsourcing projects.
• Act as a trouble shooter to resolve issues, and handle ad-hoc queries with internal and external parties
• Provide audit support for internal audit, regulatory bodies and independent auditors as well as for control initiatives such as SAS70 and Sarbanes Oxley

Basic Qualifications

• Degree qualified
• Minimum 4 years financial industry experience in Operations or any type of reporting functions. Asset Management experience is a plus
• Solid understanding of financial products such as equities, fixed income, derivatives and foreign exchange
• Client interaction and commercial sense
• Demonstrated success in project management especially working with Technology. Able to deliver high quality results while meeting deadlines
• Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and relationships
• Able to fully utilize various systems to maximize control benefits and efficiency
• Strong focus on details and control
• Proactive. Able to recognize possible problems and act independently to fix issues
• Strong motivation to constantly improve processes
• Focus on teamwork and client service
• Strong desire for personal growth and willingness to take ownership for team issues
• Flexible and creative. Able to adjust quickly to new business environments and welcome changes
• Proficiency with MS Office applications (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills in Japanese and English

Preferred Qualifications

• Understanding of risk and performance measurement is a plus
• Understanding of regulatory requirements in Japan and prior experience with audits
