The Expedia Worldwide Engineering team’s mission is to revolutionize Travel through the power of Technology. Every day we get to innovate on web applications that millions of travelers use to plan, book and experience trips they will remember forever.

The EWE supports all Expedia branded websites globally. In 2012, EWE has made a strategic investment by opening a product office in Gurgaon, India where local teams will build features on our global platform as well as monitor and analyze our critical systems.

The India Development Center will work closely with Expedia's development centers in the US and London to deliver market leading travel solutions rapidly by adding new capabilities to the core travel platform and new functions for Expedia's websites in over 25 countries.

Software Engineering

Expedia's software engineers develop the next-generation technologies for which we've become world-renowned by revolutionizing Travel. We use our world-class programming skills to innovate and create cutting-edge web applications and ecommerce sites.

The role: Front End Software Engineer

As a Front End Software Engineer at Backick.com, you will specialize in building responsive and elegant web UIs with AJAX and similar technologies.

Responsibilities:

Build next-generation web applications with a focus on the client side.

Redesign UI's, implement new UI's, and pick up Ruby as necessary

Implement designs (html / css / js / erb / jsp / email / ftl)

Provide post-launch support for defect and problem resolution.

Work closely with engineering leads to understand details and constraints of technical implementations.

Skills & Requirements

Expertise in HTML / CSS / JavaScript / JQuery

Deep experience designing modular, object-oriented JavaScript

Proficiency with MVC frameworks

Proficiency in Ruby or Java -or- Python, PHP or .Net with desire to learn RoR or Java

Mastery of cross browser compatibility

Mastery of client-side optimization best practices and tools

Serious knowledge and understanding of Web standards and Javascript

Proficiency with Fireworks, Photoshop or related tools

Able to create clean and maintainable code from mock ups

Experience with Git or other source control repository software

Ability to quickly pick up new technologies (HTML5, CSS3, JQuery Mobile)

Able to work closely with and incorporate feedback from other engineers and business.

Pluses:

Experience with Javascript Unit Testing frameworks and tools

Mobile web development experience

Experience with node js or Backbone.js

Asian languages proficiency

Experience in LESS/SASS/Coffeescript or other pre-processors

Experience with Facebook and Google SDks.

User Interface design knowledge.

Experience with nodejs, Dojo, Motools, Meteor, AngularJS, etc.


Qualifications:

Bachelor's Degree in technical discipline

3-5 years relevant work experience.
